Teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to general/elementary music and music education, supervise student teaching and other field work; thesis/dissertation; actively publish and present research; serve the university in shared governance, aid in recruitment and retention, and curriculum development. The candidate’s performance must result in high-quality student-teacher preparation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses including general music methods, supervising teaching and other field work.
- Supervise theses and dissertations.
- Publish and present research.
- Serve the University in shared governance.
- Participate in recruitment, retention and curricular development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in Music Education (ABD considered if graduating by August 2020); minimum three years successful K-12 music teaching experience; documented research activity.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with quantitative research; a record of leadership in areas of recruitment, community partnerships, and curriculum development; dedication to student preparation, college teaching experience, experience with online curriculum delivery; experience with observing and mentoring student teachers; a certification in elementary music specializations such as Kodaly, Orff, and/or Dalcroze; advanced technological skills and application in the classroom.
