Reporting to the Director ofAnnual Programs, the Associate Director focuses on project management of thedirect marketing program, the faculty and staff campaign, as well as thematching gift and anniversary solicitation programs. The Associate Director isthe lead team member for developing and monitoring the segmentation andsolicitation plans. This position plays a key role in data analysis, reporting resultsof the program, and implementing changes based on these findings and datatrends.

The mission of Annual Programs isto create a philanthropic culture that will lead to increased charitablesupport for Georgia State University and its students. The Associate Directorwould be part of a team of 5 that works toward building a donor base which willstructure the pipeline that moves potential prospects into leadership giftlevels.

Responsibilities


Direct MarketingProgram


- Lead staff of mail program generating a minimum of$300,000 annually.
- Manages and analyzes all aspects of direct mailsolicitation efforts for all annual giving constituent groups, includingalumni, “friends,” and faculty/staff.
- Designs, plans and implements strategies to increaseretention and donor acquisition rates, coordinating strategies with director.
- Primary contact with vendor to execute annualproduction calendar and communicates necessary deadlines to appropriate parties.
- Proactively creates partnerships across theuniversity to acquire new direct marketing fundraising projects.


Call Center Management


- Secondary management of call center which generatesa minimum of $450,000 annually.
- Works with vendor of phone program to monitorstrategy, analyze results on a regular basis, makes recommendations to changeand enhance strategies based on results.
- Manages reporting and data file clean-up/transfersto vendor for phone solicitation program.
- Managesprospect follow-ups from call center, including hand-offs, donor and alumniconcerns and questions, and any other follow-up needed.


Data Segmentation


- Leadstaff responsible for developing and monitoring the annual programs datasegmentation plan, which serves as the foundation for all departmentsolicitation and stewardship plans.
- Analyzesdata for all targeted appeals and complex segmentation to increase retentionand acquisition rates.
- Ensuresall solicitation and stewardship calendar activities are in line withsegmentation plans. Monitors progressand analyzes results on an ongoing basis.


Data Analysis and Reporting


- Workingclosely with the Director, Annual Programs and Director, Donor InformationServices, creates standard queries and the corresponding logic to analyze andmeasure the effectiveness of the various channels of solicitation within AnnualPrograms.
- Assiststhe director with compilation and maintenance of statistical data for trackingthe success of all programs and projects.
- Utilizesdata to project trends and recommend change for programming initiatives bothproactively and as needed.


Targeted Solicitation Programs


- Leadstaff for faculty/staff giving program. Develops and implements the plan tosolicit and steward faculty and staff donors.
- Recruitsand manages a faculty/staff giving committee made up of various faculty/staffacross the university to enhance the program’s success and increase overallgiving.
- Analyzesand reports results on success of program to the Development Division.
- Leadstaff for matching gift program. Develops and implements the plan, includingtargeted marketing materials and solicitations of specific companies, tosolicit donors based on corporate matching gift opportunities.
- Findsnew and innovate ways to increase revenue and participation, including securingexternal vendors and internal partners.
- Analyzesand reports results on success of program to the Development Division.
- Partnerswith Alumni Association related to corporate relationships.
- Handles strategy with development leadership and university partners to incorporate analysis andfeedback for strategies for both the faculty/staff giving program and thematching gift program.


Management and Collaboration


- Hiresand manages annual giving student assistant(s).
- Trains,approves time, and directs the daily work of the student assistants. Monitorsquality work, provides feedback for growth.
- Servesas a liaison to 3-4 college/units on behalf of the Annual Programs department.
- Meetsand communicates regularly with development officers to discuss specificcollege/unit strategies, analyze and report results, and add strategicfundraising opportunities as needed.


QualificationsBachelor's degree and two years of experience in solicitation of gifts up to $25,000; or a combination of education and related experience.
