Description

Genentech supports patients who cannot afford the out of pocket costs for their medicines by making monetary charitable donations to independent Co-pay Assistance Foundations (CAFs) that provide financial assistance.
The Associate Director (AD) of Co-pay Donations and Charitable Giving Operations oversees the team that executes this work, as well as the overall operations for Genentech’s Charitable Giving.
The AD will oversee all strategy, operations and compliance activities related to co-pay donations to independent organizations and will ensure all decisions are made in the context of evolving compliance environment and market factors that impact these kinds of charitable contributions. 
This critical role is accountable for the CAF budget recommendation and compliant fiduciary management and serves as a point of escalation both internally and externally.  This role requires strategic agility, superior communication skills, strong analytical capabilities, and deep knowledge of all relevant laws and regulations governing these independent Foundations. 
The AD will also oversee grantmaking operations for Genentech’s charitable giving, including the compliance, processing, payment related to more than $40M in annual giving, in addition to Genentech’s co-pay donations, as well as supervision of all applicable audit and reporting activities.
Key responsibilities of this position:
Lead a high performing team with expertise in finance, compliance, and operations:
Create and maintain a culture of learning and continuous improvement
Work with team members to support personal and professional development
Ensure all deliverables and requirements are met across a complex portfolio
Guide operations for all of Genentech’s charitable giving, including:
Maintenance of relevant aspects of Genentech’s gFRS system
Routing and tracking of charitable funding requests, including compliance checks, RFI’s, documentation, dispensation, LOA’s and payment
Accurate budget tracking across the charitable portfolio
All applicable reporting (e.g. Sunshine Act, Sustainability, Transparency)
Oversee the Co-pay team’s operations and compliance activities
Operations:
Manage efficient and compliant donation process for the support of independent organizations which support patients that cannot afford their out of pocket costs. Develop and maintain a strategic perspective for Genentech’s charitable donations
Deliver budget recommendation and manage annual budget and budget development process, including review of CAF donation recommendations
Compliance:
Ensure internal and external processes are compliant and aligned with HCO policy as well as OIG guidance
Monitor and comply with all Healthcare Compliance Office (HCO) controls
Complete and review CAF audits
Stay abreast of changes in the CAF, Legal and Regulatory environments
Lead Co-pay Extended Team, acting as a point of contact for internal partners (Corporate Relations, Advocacy Relations, Healthcare Law Group)
Serve as a point of escalation re: charitable donations to CAFs, internally/externally
Provide an environment that encourages and supports the team’s success
Qualifications:
12+ years of relevant experience with significant understanding of the Bio/Pharma industry and/or healthcare/healthcare reimbursement (operations and compliance)
Experience in strategic planning, marketing or financial planning & management in healthcare/healthcare reimbursement is required
Significant experience managing people with a strong affinity for mentoring and professional development
Skill at leading teams, including ability to set a vision and inspire people
Must demonstrate outstanding knowledge of the issues, trends and needs as these relate to healthcare reimbursement and the managed care environment
Strategic thinker with proven leadership skills, able to lead and drive others to produce results.  Ability to see the “big picture”
Robust analytical and forecasting skills are required.  Must demonstrate proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Strong executive presence and excellent communication skills, adept at distilling complex information in a format suitable for senior management
Bachelors Degree required; MBA or other related graduate-level degree desirable
