Job Description
Our Core Technology organization works with all our divisions to conceptualize, develop and produce fluoropolymer intermediates and composites for incorporation into Gore Products. We are looking for an experienced, project-oriented Automation Controls Engineer to join our Engineering team in Elkton, MD.

Responsibilities include:
Leading and being a team member of complex projects from start to finish, including defining project scope, writing specifications, design, contract and procurement, build, installation, start-up, and qualification of processing equipment
Interacting closely with the design group and as an integral member of project teams. Project teams will have cross-functional representation that may include mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, process engineers, IT, facilities, skilled trades, operations, and procurement
Interacting with product development, process engineering, leadership, and manufacturing teams to determine their equipment needs and project requirements
Leveraging proven divisional and enterprise tools & project practices for successful project execution.
Working closely with suppliers on the design and purchase of new equipment and modifications to existing systems
Performing electrical design and hands-on start-up for process equipment (e.g., drives, programmable logic controller [PLC] logic programming, human-machine interfaces [HMIs], wiring schematics, instrumentation, and motor control systems)
Creating and updating electrical schematics, specifications, software, and documentation
Providing field supervision of contractors for installation and start-up of new equipment
Developing and completing process equipment validations and documentation
Transferring knowledge to engineers, skilled trades, and manufacturing teams supporting the equipment long term
Collaborating globally where appropriate
Utilizing the quality system to facilitate the execution and implementation of the efforts listed above
Working closely and partnering with skilled trades associates as a resource for electrical expertise  
Required Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in automation and controls
Proven experience working as an integral part of a cross-functional team
Demonstrated ability to:
Lead, prioritize, and complete multiple technical projects and daily tasks
Provide Project Management for large and small projects
Learn and apply new skills
Understand and communicate technical ideas and concepts with technical and non-technical audiences (written and verbal).
Develop specifications to communicate requirements to suppliers
Strong organizational and planning skills
Ability and desire to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment
PLC logic programming experience
HMI interface programming experience
Experience with industrial motor drive and control systems
Industrial networking experience
Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawing experience to generate schematics and other documentation
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and machine safety practices
Good documentation skills,
