Bechtel is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world’s largest radioactive-waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in southeastern Washington State. The project will use vitrification technology to process and stabilize 56 million gallons (212 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford Site which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era.
The cleanup project is one of DOE’s most technically challenging and the largest undertaking of its kind—equivalent to building two nuclear power plants. The construction site spans 65 acres (26 hectares) and includes facilities for pretreatment, low-activity waste vitrification, high-level waste vitrification, and the analytical laboratory – as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, and other support facilities.
Positions located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) work a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other work locations may work a 9-80’s schedule, M-F 7:00 am to 4:30 pm with alternating Fridays off. Extended hours as needed.
The primary duties supporting consist of development, review, administration, testing, configuration, implementation, data integration/management in support a large Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) project.
Works with engineering disciplines and other functions to elicit requirements to help ensure Engineering information management requirements, data validation and data ownership are properly planned, developed, and managed and work activities documented.
Applies knowledge of 3D, P&ID, etc. principles and practices to data integration with commercial-off-the-shelf, and Bechtel Standard Application Program software.
Coordinates with and support technical team members in information systems, automation, and engineering in areas related to engineering authoring and integration tools.
Supports artifacts to convey data integration and management activities for review and coordination.
Must be well organized and have the ability to accomplish assigned tasks within established budgets and schedules.
Willing to work required hours to support project requests and able to travel on short notice.
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Nuclear) and a minimum of 1 year of related experience
7 years of discipline Engineering Automation experience in lieu of degree.
Candidates must possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Hands-on experience using Microsoft Office programs including Excel, VISIO, and related computer programs.
Familiar with industry-wide Microsoft development tools, such as Visual Basic, C++, VB.NET, ASP.NET.
Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CADD systems.
Hands-on experience with database systems such as Access, Oracle, and SQL Server.
General knowledge of engineering/scientific systems, and relevant computer applications.
Knowledge using industry and regulatory standards and design criteria.
