What you’ll be doing...
Verizon’s launch of 5G service will usher in a new era of functionality. 5G is the fifth generation of wireless technology, it means a faster and more powerful network, with a massive impact on how we live, work and play. Potential applications include Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Edge Computing, Cloud Gaming, Social Gaming, Smart Clothing, Smart Homes and more.
Verizon’s Consumer Products team is seeking a passionate and experienced business development manager to drive device partnerships for 5G. This role will have the rare opportunity to establish and nurture external engagements with industry leaders, including: entrepreneurs, startups, venture capital firms, sports leagues, TV studios, lifestyle brands, research labs, consumer products/services companies, VCs and more.
Analyzing and discovering new insights that will translate into emerging products and services that will delight Verizon customers and capture developers’ mindset. Identifying high value opportunities and gaps within.
Researching and keeping up-to-date on current state of the art and future technology trends, primarily within the evolving mobile ecosystem/value chain, key players within segments and current/emerging business models.
Mapping out market dynamics and competitive landscape in various technology sectors.
Developing use cases that will take advantage of future 5G networks to complement/supplement or create brand new revenues streams for Verizon.
Identifying and establishing strategic relationships with potential partners such as device OEMs, technology companies, developers, research labs, accelerators, incubators. Contributing to devising technology sourcing strategies from external channels by attracting and incenting more partners to grow our network.
Proposing/Defining technical projects based on our roadmap and their associated deliveries/milestones collaboratively with our partners.
Structuring, negotiating and executing partnership programs via contracts and SoWs.
Managing or helping/coordinate technical projects in a meticulous and disciplined fashion to track progress and to ensure goals are achieved. During project execution, providing technology oversight, direction and steering to maximize project output and technical resource efficiency.
Working with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders/customers to ensure relationships with partners are nurtured and in alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
Proactively developing/managing an opportunity pipeline, perform KPI based project management, and maintain evaluation processes.

You have excellent communication skills both written and verbal and can communicate with all levels both inside and outside the organization.
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have:
Bachelor or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, economics or creative fields.
Six or more years of sales, product marketing, product management and/or business development experience within Sports, Entertainment, Retail, Lifestyle, Consumer Goods, and/or Technology.
Two or more years of investment banking, management consulting, venture/PE investing, or corporate development/M&A experience.
Background in Sports, AR/VR, Immersive Media, TV Networks and Film Studios, Devices, Lifestyle Brands, Sponsorships, 5G.
Experience conducting and closing high-exposure partnership deals.
Exceptional negotiation skills and financial acumen.
Substantial experience leading cross-functionally in a highly matrixed environment.
Ability to leverage consumer insights to create actionable experiential activations.
