Amgen is seeking a Process Development Scientist – Cell Therapy at its main headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA to join a newly forming group focused on the development of technologies to enable the delivery and manufacture of CAR-T Cell Therapies.
The Process Development Scientist will work with a multidisciplinary team of talented scientist to develop new processes to help deliver exciting new therapies to patients.
Amgen’s Process Development Drug Substance Sciences group is creating a new group who aims to establish end-to-end CAR T development capabilities. We are seeking a motivated person with experience in cellular therapy to join our team.
Key Activities for the Process Development Scientist include:
Viral and expression vector optimization, engineering, construction and screening.
Optimization of lentiviral or retroviral production
T cell gene transfer via lentiviral transduction and non-viral gene delivery methods
Application of gene editing technologies
T cell culture and characterization using flow cytometry
Independently conduct experiments while working in a collaborative team environment.
Maintain detailed records and report out data
Master’s degree and 3 years of Process Development experience
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Process Development experience
Associate’s degree and 10 years of Process Development experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Process Development experience
Experience with expression or viral vector construction to improve expression and selection processes, ideally in stem or primary T cell populations
Experience with gene editing techniques such as transposons, uncleared, CRISPR/Cas9, mRNA and LVV
Experience with designing and executing targeted integration strategies for stem cells or T cell populations
Knowledge of cellular therapy, T cell biology and the current CAR T manufacturing processes
Experience in culturing PBMCs, human T cells and mammalian cell lines
Experience with immunophenotyping using flow cytometry
Ability to work well as a team and superb organization, communication and time management skills with the ability to run overlapping experiments
