Amgen is seeking a Process Development Senior Scientist – Cell Therapy at its main headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA to join the Cell Line Development group and will help drive and experimentally execute strategies to optimize CART manufacturing. The Process Development Scientist will report to the Director Process Development and would independently conduct experiments and maintain detailed records of procedure and result.
Process Development Drug Substance Sciences group aims to establish end-to-end CAR T capabilities.
Key Activities for the Process Development Sr Scientist include:
Optimization of Bioprocessing of human T cells using closed systems (Sepax, CliniMACS, Xuri/WAVE, Sefia) including isolation, enrichment, activation, expansion and cryopreservation
T cell characterization using flow cytometry
Evaluation of T cell gene transfer via lentiviral transduction and non-viral gene delivery methods
Optimization of viral vectors, gene delivery and expression strategies
Doctorate degree and 2 years of Process Development and / or Scientific experience
Master’s degree and 6 years of Process Development and / or Scientific experience
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of Process Development and / or Scientific experience
Associate’s degree and 10 years of Process Development and / or Scientific experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Process Development and / or Scientific experience
3+ years work experience in the cellular therapy space, with proven ability to advance technologies in T cell isolation, expansion and or transduction/transfection
Deep knowledge of cellular therapy, T cell biology, T cell culture and the current CAR T manufacturing processes
Experience in optimization of media and culturing PBMCs, human T cells and mammalian cell lines
Experience with gene editing and delivery techniques such as transposons, CRISPR/Cas9, mRNA and LVV
Ability to work well as a team
Excellent record keeping and communication skills
Superb organization and time management skills with the ability to run overlapping experiments
