Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), Bechtel’s government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. Its successes include many large, first-of-a-kind projects in government site management, environmental restoration, defense, space, energy, and national and homeland security. This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
UPF will be will be built by 2025 for $6.5 billion and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy’s largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future.
The UPF Construction project works on various schedules with differing start times pending project needs. Standard work week is 4-10 schedule Monday - Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.
Eligibility for this position requires US citizenship; successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship in order to obtain badge access to the site. Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check. All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable.
Assigned to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) Construction organization in a Construction Civil Filed Engineering position. Responsibilities are to ensure assigned UPF Civil based commodities are in compliance with design/specifications, nuclear codes and standards, schedule, within budget and to quality standards. Perform construction engineering assignments of a varied nature requiring a working knowledge of construction engineering practices. Principle responsibilities include:
Develop work packages to provide sufficient technical information to ensure personnel are able to understand discreet scopes of work and the applicable hazards, mitigation plans, material requirements, quantity takeoffs, quantity tracking, technical issue resolution, field changes, configuration control, temporary utility support, and quality verification by means of inspection, testing, and nonconformance reporting and control.
Assists construction supervision in planning construction methods and procedures. Coordinates engineering or construction problems with superintendents.
Interprets design engineering output and prepares construction working drawings for the use of superintendents as required, including:
Temprary construction facilities.
Field sketches f revisions and additions and preparing "as built" drawings.
Reviews design drawings, study Interference prblems and reviewing related vendor drawings and installation instructions.
Pre-planning of concrete placements, coordination of batch plant, conveying equipment, and testing agency.
Inspection of concrete placing methods, consolidation, and post placement protections.
Tracking and closure of concrete thermocouple data, compressive test data and records.
Manage all grouting operations for storm drains, base plates, equipment pads, structural, and non-structural concrete repairs.
Prepares or directs preparation of field bulk material purchase requisitions, including estimating the quantities and material takeoffs of the field purchases of materials. Track commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database programs as required.
Assists in coordination of vendor material deliveries, storage of materials, expediting and engineering reports related to the schedule.
Prepares field change notices, extra work orders
