Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, a Clinical Coordinator is a valuable member of our team, who works closely with assigned physicians and designees to facilitate the care of patients.


Qualified candidateswill demonstrate superior communication, customer service excellence, andorganization skills while adhering to our high standards in compliance withpolicies and protocols.


The purpose of theClinical Coordinator is to establish efficient and timely access for patients tothe Smithtown Sleep Center. The Clinical Coordinator will act as a liaison toadministrative staff, physicians, designees, and patients to ensure consult,testing, and follow up care is received in an organized and coordinated manner.This individual will serve as a patient resource ensuring high quality of care.

Duties of a Clinical Coordinator - Sleep Disorders Center may include but are not limited to the following:


- Serve as a liaison for the physician practices collaborating withdesignated departmental representative to review and coordinate physicianavailability and scheduling templates allowing for efficient access of timelypatient appointments.


- Schedule patient clinic appointments including New Patient Visits,Follow up Visits, and pre- testing appointments for patients per protocols indicatedby physicians.


- Manage incoming scheduling inquires for the clinic, answerincoming calls to the practice and routing appropriately. Monitor and manageprovider line including physician messaging pool.


- Confirmation of upcoming patient appointments including sleepstudies.


- Monitor and manage clinic cancelations and patient re-schedules.


- Reminder of patient required co-pay during confirmation calls.


- Act as a backup for other office staff in the followingareas of responsibility: Assisting with calling insurance companies to verify patients’ insurance approvalfor Sleep Disorders testing. Fax DME scripts to participating DME providers,track DME set ups, review charts for CPAP compliance.


- Other duties as requested by the Office Manager,Clinical Operations Manager or Medical Staff.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Associate’s degree and at least three years of relevant clinical office administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Working knowledge of Cerner Powerchart, IDX Scheduling, InstaMed Co-Pay Collection, and/or Microsoft Suite.
