Description

Purpose:

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing Education and in collaboration with the Director of Simulation-Based Education and Research (SBER) and the Manager of eD-H Application Systems Training, works with all clinical professions and departments to develop, coordinate and integrate the electronic health record into Interdisciplinary simulation training for all clinicians from novice to expert in ambulatory and in-patient settings.
Develops and participates in process improvement projects related to electronic medical record optimization.


Responsibilities:

1.
Uses clinical expertise to envision, develop and implement realistic clinical and standardized patient training and scenarios with integration of the electronic health record.

2.
Collaborates with the SBER Simulation Development Specialist, Nurse Educator and Simulation Technicians to effectively integrate use of the electronic health record into simulated training events.

3.
Assists and provides support in teaching eD-H core curricula.

4.
Develops, evaluates and analyzes the use of the electronic health record during simulation scenarios and in the clinical setting to improve the learners' efficiency and expertise to meet their training needs.

5.
In collaboration with Nursing Education and SBER, supports implementation and evaluation of institutional process improvement efforts, orientation, education and training activities, competency assessment and implementation of programs and initiatives for all staff and providers.

6.
Integrates and maintains electronic health record builds into the simulated events and scenarios in the SBER training environment.
This includes the creation of Master Patients to enhance the learning experience of clinicians.

7.
Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with all disciplines and promote professional behaviors and standards while supporting organizational policy and standards of care.

8.
Maintains current knowledge and expertise of the electronic health record's functionality and utilization in order to assist in the realistic development of patients in eD-H for simulation training purposes and communicate changes to Nursing Education.

9.
Maintains and develops the Master Training (MST) Environment to support all updates, upgrades, initiatives and projects related to integrated electronic health record and simulation education.

10.
Routinely interacts and engages with front line nursing staff, Nursing Informatics, Nursing Education, SBER nursing staff, and eD-H Training Team to fully appreciate how the electronic medical record is utilized and to aid in integration into training environment.

11.
Integrates best practice and efficient use of the electronic health record tools into simulated patient scenarios.

12.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

ü Bachelor's degree in Nursing required with a minimum of five (5) years of recent experience in clinical practice.

ü Master's degree or higher preferred.

ü Experience in an educator role

ü Familiarity with personal computers is essential, particularly windows-based environments, electronic mail, and spreadsheets.


ü Aptitude/familiarity with in the technical space is desirable.


ü Strong communication and writing skills necessary for success in this position.


ü Must be able to work autonomously with very little supervision and independently establish goals and objectives for higher level review.


ü Attention to accuracy and detail and strong time management skills desired.


Required Licensure/Certification Skills:

ü Completion of certification in one or more of the following Epic applications: EpicCare Clin Doc, and or Orders, OpTime within an agreed upon timeframe.


ü Completion of certification in Epic Training Environment Development (TED)

ü Current NH Registered Nurse License
