Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with pitching consumer press, including interactions with editors and writers.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience translating technical information to all audiences, with the ability to create news.
Knowledge of and interest in the consumer tech landscape, with a track record of consumer placements in a variety of media verticals.
Understanding of how to scale public relations via creative social media partnerships to reach a wide array of consumer media.
Demonstrated ability to work calmly and maintain good judgment in fast-paced environments.
Ability to think, plan and execute on multiple projects simultaneously in an organized fashion.
Proven communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers; and develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns. We're looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.
Our Consumer PR team develops creative and strategic ways to introduce Google’s wide-ranging product family to consumer media. We partner with Product PR and marketing colleagues to pitch news driven launches, seasonal moments and fresh angles across Google products.
Day-to-day responsibilities are focused on media relations and briefings, developing and sharing pitches and collateral, and planning and executing events, both large and small. Also key to this role will be using your organizational skills to keep our extensive media lists up-to-date, researching trends, and helping to maintain coverage reports.
We're looking for a great communicator who can translate the complexities of technology in person and in writing, knows the consumer landscape inside and out, thrives in a busy environment and loves talking to press.
We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders--and our own employees--about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture/values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. You are quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious. To succeed in this role, you'll you are willing to try new things and can manage numerous projects with tight deadlines. Things happen quickly at Google, and to do great work, you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally with partners across PR, comms, marketing, product and beyond.
Work closely with product PR teams to develop communications materials, with a focus on landing a wide range of placements in both print and digital across multiple verticals.
Execute on all the elements of press outreach, from target lists to pitches to coverage reports.
Develop and maintain close, productive relationships with consumer and social media editors.
Help execute and/or oversee multiple press events and briefings.
Prep company spokespeople for press opportunities, events and staff media interviews.
