In August of 2017, Georgia Power selected Bechtel to complete construction of the two-reactor expansion of a nuclear power plant near Augusta, Georgia. Plant Vogtle Units 3 & 4 will be the first new units built in the U.S. in the last three decades and are currently the only new units being constructed in the country.

 

At the peak of construction, this vital project will employ up to 5,000 on site.  These positions will include building tradespeople, engineers, field supervisors, construction and project managers, quality assurance professionals, safety professionals, procurement, subcontract specialists and many others.

 

This position may be required to work a schedule of rotating shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays.  All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment.  The ability to obtain/maintain access to the facility is required.

 

Responsibilities include:

Represents Construction during the formation and bid, evaluate, and award phases of assigned contracts
Participates in pre-construction meetings; and validates receipt and approval of pre-mobilization submittals
Monitors and inspects the contractor’s quality of work
Validates Contractors installed quantities and monthly progress and/or unit price payments for invoice
Monitors Contractor force account and time and material reports
Coordinates Contractor’s activities with work performed by other contractors and facility personnel.
Performs surveillances and inspections of Contractors work; confirms and documents compliance with contract requirements
Monitors Contractor submittals and coordinates required reviews by Construction and other functional organizations.
Coordinates with Engineering and the Contractor’s design entity for design/ build contracts.
Provides technical direction to Contractors.
Monitors the Contractors execution for adherence to the principles of Integrated Safety Management System and to ensure the health and safety of the worker, quality, productivity and consistency.
Operates with latitude, exercising professional judgment within the framework of guidelines provided by the Field Contracts Manager in Construction and utilizing construction knowledge and experience in resolution of typical questions and problems.
 

Basic Qualifications:

B.S. Degree in Engineering or related field and 6 years of experience, or 12 years’ experience in lieu of degree.
Possess right to work in the US without sponsorship
Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing in very small and/or confined spaces, and lifting up to 60 lbs.
Must be able to pass nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear power facility.
 

Minimum Qualifications:

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
The candidate should be familiar with current design codes and standards, as well as NQA-1 requirements.
A sound knowledge base of environmental, safety and health compliance standards required on government projects is critical.
Ability to provide input into development of the contract acquisition strategy and development of engineering design packages requirements to support construction execution.
Ability to provide clear and precise verbal and written communications with design engineers in order to assist with the project review.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of the Bechtel Subcontract Formation Manual, Bechtel Construction Subcontract Management Manual, Bechtel Nuclear Work Processes Procedures (NWPPs) and the related Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) utilized by Construction.
Recent Subcontract Technical Representative or Subcontract Coordinator experience in subcontract
