Job Title: Coordination of Benefits Specialist

Location: Danville, PA

Department: Geisinger Health Plan

Work Type: Full Time

Job Summary:

Assists Customer Service Improvement Team Leader by providing direct back up support to the Customer Service Improvement Team in the areas of COB and Subrogation by actively participating in cross training, improving processes within the team and contributing in staff meetings. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health Plan in its efforts to provide quality member care and member satisfaction. Reports directly to the Customer Service Improvement Team Leader. Works in cooperation with Geisinger Health Plan staff (i.e., Information Systems, Credentialing, Provider Network Management, Quality Assurance Coordinator/Trainers [QACT]) as needed

Competencies and Skills:

Demonstrates keyboard experience.

Demonstrates computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Business Objects, Vignette and Excel.

Demonstrates experience with the Amisys system.

Demonstrates ability to read, interpret and extract information (financial arrangements, benefits, etc) from provider and insurer contracts.

Demonstrates working knowledge of UB04/UB92, CMS1500/HCFA1500 claim forms, CPT-4, HCPCS, Revenue Codes and ICD-9 coding.

Demonstrates ability to be highly organized, with an aptitude for administrative detail and a high regard for clerical accuracy.

Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrates ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and problem solve.

Education / Experience:

Minimum 2 years of customer service experience required, including at least 6 months in healthcare or health insurance.

Operational knowledge of Geisinger Health Plan insurance coverages, types of benefit plans and types of delivery services required.

Successful completion of an approved medical terminology course within twelve months of employment, if made available, required.

Experience in dealing with support services (i.e. information systems, finance, credentialing and health care providers) preferred.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Work is typically performed in an office environment.
