Position Summary:

Develop primary and secondary package graphics in collaboration with the brand manager, to ensure clear benefit communication and alignment with brand strategy. Responsible and accountable for delivering timely, effective and on-target development of all elements of the product’s primary and secondary package communications. Lead package development over a broad range of Corporate Brand categories and brands. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire division in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR) and our Customer 1st strategy. Essential Job Functions:

Maximize outside design resources in the development of package graphics
Manage the design development process, including fit with brand strategy, timing, documentation, proofing, art routing and approvals in assigned categories
Proof and approve labels accurately to ensure all labeling requirements have been met, including ingredients, spelling, grammar, Universal Product Code (UPC) and regulatory compliance
Develop plans with brand managers, designers and printers to insure the graphic and color integrity of a chosen design
Drive innovation of recommended concepts in areas of printing and potential new substrates
Actively seek out and travel to qualified design agencies, printers and pre-press houses that will be beneficial to building our Corporate Brands program
Maintain team (Manufacturing, Corporate Brands) updates on status of all current packaging projects; identify alternatives
Lead development of routine label changes, keeping true to strategy
Manage expenditures associated with label development and explore potential new processes that could improve efficiencies
Communicate on a regular basis with the senior packaging manager and Design team
Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe, quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements
Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems
Accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles

Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:

Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts or design
Five years of experience in packaging design, graphics and print production
Strong oral/written communication skills
Strong computer skills
Ability to perform and work on multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to identify and solve problems independently
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
