Corp Food Technology Manager - Dairy

Position Summary:

Coordinate Kroger technical resources to meet business needs. Foster collaborative relationships within Corporate Food Technology and across Kroger departments. Provide leadership and depth of knowledge in food technology regarding product development, product quality maintenance, and technical service.Role model and demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of others.
Essential Job Functions:

Follow new developments in food manufacturing and technology.
Evaluate and recommend new processes, equipment and technologies of potential value to Kroger.
Follow regulatory and technological changes in the food industry.
Participate in key manufacturing projects that guide the future of Kroger business.
Reduce ingredient and manufacturing costs of existing products while maintaining product quality.
Develop new products and processes, and improve existing processes.
Partner with Corporate Technology, Retail, and Manufacturing in problem identification and resolution.
Provide technical assistance to Kroger manufacturing plants in the areas of analytical and processing techniques for new product development, new process development, and technical service.
Resolve differences in manufacturing processes between various operations to improve product quality, cost and operations efficiency.
Demonstrate excellence in project planning, execution, and timing through project evaluation.
Perform bench top product development, pilot plant development work, conduct new product and process plant trials and make recommendations for needed changes.
Initiate programs to keep Kroger plants current in ingredients, processing and packaging.
Advise plants on testing techniques and quality assurance procedures; audit product quality, plant conditions, and consumer comments; and initiate correcting deficiencies.
Prepare and maintain raw material, in-process, purchased products and finished product specifications documents.
Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems.
Accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles.
Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provides feedback to direct reports.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Food Science Technology, Dairy Science, Bakery Science, Food Microbiology or related field.
6-10 years of experience in Product Development and/or plant production.
Functional knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
Demonstrated excellence in project planning, problem solving and execution.
Strong critical thinking skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Ability to travel independently.

Advanced Degree preferred.
