The Data Scientist will be part of the Epidemiology Research Team in the Department of Radiology. The individual will oversee and conduct research, provide leadership of projects and staff, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and attend/present at scientific conferences. The main focus of this position is ensuring the data needs of the team and the research project(s) are met. The Data Scientist will apply advanced methods to integrate multiple data types (population level, healthcare, registry, claims, survey, biomarker, imaging), specifically focused on cancer screening and outcomes. The position will use a combination of skills (programming, data visualization, command line tools, databases, statistics, machine learning) to analyze data and generate insights, information and value from large quantities of data.

Educational RequirementsA PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, or Health Policy Management with 4 years of experience OR a Master’s degree and 10 years of demonstrated excellence in the areas listed above may be considered.

Qualifications and Experience-Five or more years of progressively more responsible experience performing data management, integrating data, analyzing data, summarizing results, writing manuscripts, and building skill set to incorporate emerging tools;
-Demonstrated knowledge of Epidemiologic and statistical methods;
-Five or more years of programming with advanced SAS, SQL, R, or Python;
-Experience conducting research, literature reviews and significant experience in capacity-building, developing knowledge management strategies and tool kits;
-Demonstrated strong analytic and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail and accuracy while working with large, disparate data sets and performing data mining, validation and information interpretation;
-Experience in written communications, public speaking and presentation, knowledge of research, and qualitative and quantitative evaluation methodologies;
-Demonstrated experience overseeing data management staff;
-Time management skills, including defining and planning activities and setting personal and team priorities / juggling competing priorities
