Looking for database challenges with a company that surprises and delights their consumers? Nintendo of America is seeking a Database Administrator proficient in Amazon Web Services relational database services, focusing on Aurora MySQL and Oracle. This position also supports on-premise Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL databases in a dynamic team-based environment.
This position is responsible for managing databases in a hybrid (cloud and on-premise) environment. This person covers a wide range of database activities including analysis, tuning, design, integration, protection, and day-to-day support operations.

Builds, monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots databases following
predetermined guidelines, and may contribute to creating those guidelines
Works with team
members to define the functional and technical needs of an organization
and recommend solutions
Assesses available
technologies to meet needs, and then define technical specifications and
designs of future systems
Develops and modifies databases,
addressing functional, performance, security, quality, operations and
monitoring needs
Manage database system
backup and recovery plans
Applies creativity and
latitude to design and deliver systems
Works with orchestration
technologies to automate tasks within area of expertise
Reviews database operation and configuration to ensure it continues
to meet design criteria
Creates monitoring and sets thresholds to ensure databases are
operating well
Integrates systems with enterprise standards and enterprise tools
Documents all
technology changes through appropriate change control
Networks with key
contacts outside own area of expertise that may also include employees
from Nintendo Company, Ltd. (NCL) and subsidiaries
Requires staying
current on database technologies and techniques
Ensures work is
completed in such a way to comply with established JSOX and other internal
Mentors and assists
Associate Database Administrators
Provides analysis
and/or troubleshooting of performance issues on existing systems and prior
developed technology solutions
Provides on-call
support on a scheduled basis
Three + years’ experience managing databases in a hybrid (cloud and on-premise) environment
Three + years’ experience in database administration including analysis, tuning, design, integration, protection, and day-to-day support operations
One + years’ experience using Amazon Web Services relational database technologies (Aurora/RDS) and at least one of the following relational databases: Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL
Proven experience with work on complex
issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of
variable factors
May require solid knowledge of Windows, storage
and network technologies
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer
Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology,
Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or related field; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
One or more of the following certifications/credentials preferred: Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect, Oracle Database Administration Certificate, Oracle Database Certified DBA, Oracle Certified MySQL DBA, SQL Server Certified DBA
