Position Summary:

Assess each store's ability to exceed customer expectations for ease of shopping, service, variety, freshness, cleanliness, food safety and regulatory conditions. Serve as a liaison to Departments providing upward feedback on the effectiveness of the merchandising or operational plans/programs as well as local needs and products. Work with store management to identify store opportunities, analyze reports to improve sales, shrink, safety, profit and the customers shopping experience. Essential Functions:

Instruct and train stores associates in the proper use of their stores display space, special or seasonal merchandising techniques and follow through on the implementation of Enterprise/Division store sets that allow for proper allocation, variety and freshness of product.
Instruct and train store Department Managers in proper ordering, execution of the sales plan, implementation and development of product mix to support consistent sales, profit, and tonnage growth.
Ensure that required Division methods of handling, receiving, storage, trimming, conditioning, pricing, stocking rotating, and cooling are implemented.
Responsible for ensuring each Department's implementation and execution of merchandising and operational plans as directed by applicable Division Department.
Responsible for ensuring key retailing initiatives.
Ensure stores compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, and Enterprise/Division policy; ensure adherence to Division standards on applicable commodities and departments.
Maintain and support all Food Safety and Sanitation "best practices" of the Division.
Actively work with store's associates in the promotion of safety and shared responsibility for the achievement of a zero accident safety culture.
Assist in the effective implementation of technologies and use of systems, such as CAO.
Assist as needed in the installation, training, and use of new equipment and/or work methods.
Work with stores, focusing from a total department contribution standpoint to drive cost effective sales and profitability.
Keep abreast of competitive situations and monitor and report significant programs or activities.
Work with stores in the achievement of the Shrink glide path; apply tools to manage this area.
Provide feedback to Store Manager and District Manager, on the strengths and developmental opportunities of associates in Deli and Bakery department.
Identify training stores and managers within districts and evaluate department team strengths and opportunities
Work with appropriate HR resources and store teams to ensure the effective use of training programs and assist in the training of store personnel as needed.
Provide input concerning promotability and selection of Store Department Managers to District Managers and assist in the training for and transition of the new Department Manager to his/her store.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Assistant Store Manager (1-4 years)
Computer skills - Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Strong leadership skills
Ability to take on tasks outside of their expertise.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to achieve objectives through others
