What you’ll be doing...
This position is for the Transport Reliability and Operations Tier 3 support team. The role will be responsible for building and maintaining an automation infrastructure that enables the team to detect, prevent, and resolve network issues based on the current network state. This automation infrastructure will tie various data sources and formats (CLI/NETCONF, NMS monitoring, syslog, SNMP) with assorted automation tools (Netmiko, Napalm, Ansible, Cisco NSO) to automate the functions of auditing, tooling, and remediating the network. The function of this role is to continue the deployment of code as containers, tying that code to APIs, and populating databases with relevant information for consumption.
Continue to transform the network into automation using python scripting and network management/orchestration tools.
Leverage python scripting, network management and orchestration tools to automate the transformation of the network.
Make consumption of data easier by automating the tasks that connect network tooling, scripting, and databases through the use of standardized formatting, container orchestration, API automation, and automated security.
Assist in building reusable methods for detecting network issues and potential outages before they impact customers.
Lead and contribute to complex projects across multiple work groups to improve network automation, verification, and reliability.
What we’re looking for...
You will need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
Extensive knowledge in Python scripting and coding experience, including object-oriented programming preferably Github with python coding examples.
Extensive knowledge developing and interfacing RESTful APIs.
Understanding of application and OS hardening including the use of OpenSSL.
Exposure to digital certificates such as root, intermediary, and certificate authority (CA).
Extensive knowledge of HTTP methods (CRUD operations).
Fundamental understanding of database design/interface (SQL/Postgres/Mongo).
Proven experience designing and maintaining distributed systems, web applications.
Experience with container orchestration and management.
Strong understanding of continuous integration and SDLC/DevOps concepts.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Extensive knowledge of virtualization platforms such as KVM, Openstack, Containers and Kubernetes.
Experience coding for network automation with tools such as YAML, Netconf, Netmiko, NSO, and Ansible.
Experience maintaining DNS records.
Extensive knowledge of DevOps best practices including:
Revision control and lifecycle management (CICD).
GIT style tools.
Regression testing/Automation of regression testing.
Linux and database admin experience.
Developing applications in a team environment.
