The Assistant Professor of Social Work/Coordinator of Field Education will serve as the Bachelor’s of Social Work program contact and resource person for agency practicum supervisors.


- Provide administrative oversight for field placements including developing generalist field education sites; coordinating placements; cooperating and collaborating with supervisors, agency personnel and university supervisors.

- Liaisons for all field experiences, internships, and related field experiences for candidates, monitoring students at practicum agencies;

- Creating and overseeing the establishment of contracts with practicum sites;

- Conduct regular meetings and orientations for field faculty, supervising social workers, cooperating field liaisons, and social work candidates at the Bachelor’s of Social Work level;

- Collaborate with departmental faculty within the Department of Social Work and across the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, Coppin State University, and other universities.

- Develop, implement, collect, manage and report evaluation instruments and data processes and outcome data related to field experiences in conjunction with designated Department of Social Work committees;

- Develop and oversee Field Advisory Board;

- Evaluate and process applications for internships/clinical practice supervisors;

- Evaluate and process applications for field placements and internships;

- Maintain regular interaction with field education sites (at least twice per year/site) to assess student success and appropriateness of field site;

- Work with department faculty and dean regarding student appeals;

- Work with department faculty and dean regarding student appeals;

- Teach courses and supervise candidates associated with field placement and others, as needed;

- Commitment to scholarship and serve on various committees;

- Attend state and national meetings as assigned;

- Other duties as assigned by the Dean and Chair. Required Qualifications EDUCATION

- Minimum of a doctorate plus two years of post Master Social Work practice experience;

- ABD will be considered.

- Licensed master social worker preferred.


- Teaching experience in higher education preferred;

- Experience with Course and Learning Management Software (i.e. Blackboard, PeopleSoft, and other technological resources) in support of online coursework, preferred.
