Director, Post Production
Operations & Technology
The Director, Post Production will lead a team of staff and freelance Media Management and support Technicians based out of our Los Angeles office. This individual will be in a key leadership role for the department as a whole and will act as the onsite leader and client representative to the LA based Cable Entertainment brands. She/he will oversee operations support of all post production workflows and systems, including content ingest, creative editorial, transcoding and archive. This includes leadership of onsite support for the enterprise Production MAM product. She/he will also play a key role in forming the department’s strategic roadmap and actualizing it’s tactical implementation. This individual will ensure the technical infrastructure, workflows and personnel are operating productively and in alignment with the larger goals of the department; in support of her/his team as well as the larger supply chain. The individual is also responsible for the quality and reliability of personnel and workflows. The candidate will be responsible for financial and productivity targets as well as selected strategic initiatives.
Manage and lead the staff and freelance Media Management and support technicians
Play a key role in supporting implementing the vision and strategy of the Post department as a whole
Key liaison and partner to peer and client groups
Ensure availability, reliability and growth across personnel, workflows and infrastructure, with a specific focus on media management and workflow orchestration.
Financial adherence and accuracy in personnel, operating and capital budgets
Assess personnel and processes on a routine basis to develop workflow improvements that will enable continued growth within the environment, collaborating closely with other Post and Engineering leaders
Support and lead key strategic and tactical initiatives within the department
Oversee the hiring and training of staff/freelance personnel as needed
Work with peer and client teams including Client Services, Editorial, Brand Creative, Brand Production and Engineering to ensure all needs are covered.
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in post-production and 5 within management
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Avid & Adobe Creative Suite experience a must
Working knowledge of transcoding, automated qc, media management and file transport technologies a must
Knowledgeable video formats and familiar with digital file format and codecs
Knowledge of media process in an on-prem and cloud environment a must
Demonstrated ability to manage financials including personnel and project budgets
Working knowledge of post ecosystem
