They will to play a leadership role in developing, executing, and implementing our business strategy and expanding our growth including partnerships and other collaborations.The qualified candidate will lead cross-functional teams in developing strategies and operational plans for existing and new areas aligned to Rubius’ vision, and articulate insights and recommendations to senior leadership.The qualified candidate will formulate therapeutic area competitive landscapes and disease maps to identify market opportunities, develop detailed treatment paradigms and development strategies, and will lead market and commercial assessments of key programs.The role will also support all aspects of business development, including evaluating, negotiating, and implementing strategic partnerships and collaborations for the company.ResponsibilitiesLead corporate strategic planning initiatives, crafting strategic frameworks, and conducting analysis of market intelligence and data to drive recommendations.Lead cross-functional teams to build integrated strategies and plans that incorporate the market landscape, prioritization of key issues, and implementation considerations.Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis both externally (market developments, employer demands, consumer trends and technology, etc.) and internally (understanding Rubius position, prior decisions made, feasibility dynamics, etc.) to inform structured recommendationsKeep abreast of changes in the industry and field, proactively identifying and assessing strategic business issues, needs and opportunities for Rubius to meet corporate goalsDesign, develop, and assess financial implications of solutions for strategic issues through quantitative and financial modeling (e.g., cost/benefit, ROI, etc.)Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly and/or ad hoc reports to senior management, executive team and Board of DirectorsRepresent department to internal/external clients/vendors and attend external meetings, industry conferences, scientific / medical meetings, etc. as a means of collecting competitive intelligence.Collaborate to identify partnership opportunities, structure, and negotiate significant and complex deals in line with company’s business and corporate development objectives.Develop presentations to accurately communicate the company’s compelling and unique science and data, plans for development and commercialization, and capabilities.Evaluate potential partners’ capabilities and needs, and drive appropriate financial analysis to enable evaluation of opportunities.Qualifications & EducationBA/BS required; Strongly prefer graduate degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Ph.D. in Cancer Biology and/or Immunology)8+ years biopharmaceutical or consulting experience; candidates with industry, or highly relevant post-doctoral work will be consideredExperience leading teams and developing strategies that align to company mission and vision with demonstrated ability to think strategically, communicate, collaborate, and managing through significant ambiguity and complexityExceptional ability to deeply understand the science and scientific landscape, as well as the business considerations important to developing and implementing biotechnology and cell therapy strategies and plansPositive, optimistic attitude and ability to work across the company and at all levels, including with scientists and C-level executivesKnowledge/experience in oncology, immunology, and/or autoimmunity field strongly preferredStrong understanding of the biopharmaceutical R&D and commercialization process, as well as knowledge of the industry landscape (e.g., companies, transactions, terms) preferredAbility to assess emerging science and major advances in domain areas, in the absence of definitive dataStrong analytical skillset; significant financial modeling experience a plusStrong communication and organizational skills, business and scientific acumenPrefer experience in business development and/or mergers and acquisitions in the biopharmaceutical industryThrives in a fast-paced environment combining strategic and tactical capabilities.Embraces and embodies Rubius’ core valuesFull-timeEEO Statement: Rubius Therapeutics is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
