Director, Special Projects
Filmed Entertainment Group
The Director, Special Projects role will support the execution of Universal Pictures Domestic Theatrical events. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, this role will manage entire campaigns from beginning to end.
Oversee the creation and execution of domestic film premieres, film festival events, Awards events, filmmaker dinners, tastemaker events and Academy + Golden Globe events.
Lead event logistics for small budget film premieres to include oversight of venue selection, red carpet production and layout, party venue selection, menu selection, budget management, venue contracts and sponsor involvement.
Manage invite process for talent and filmmakers to include allotments, communication, ticket negotiation, confirmed lists, seating preference and confirmation letters.
Develops events security plan with in-house studio security team.
Manage internal team communications for event including National Publicity, Digital, Multicultural, Brand Marketing, Partnerships, Field Publicity and Photo to include crew + photog needs, fan or social integration, sponsor execution, ticket needs.
Oversee team involvement with Hollywood Walk of Fame, hand & footprint ceremonies, and cast & crew screenings.
Coordinate Executive management at on-site events, festivals and conventions.
Continue to develop key relationships with filmmakers, film talent, agents, managers, publicists and key industry members.
Minimum 8+ years of experience in studio or network Events overseeing entire campaigns from start to finish – budget management, creative execution, invitations, seating, production, décor, menu, venue selection, sponsorship integration, talent/filmmaker relations, security coordination, fan coordination, interdepartmental communication.
Must be able to interact successfully and cultivate strong relationships with filmmakers, film talent, agents, managers, publicists and key industry members.
Possess a strong sense of urgency.
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) + EventBuilder a plus.
Excellent organization skills with the ability to prioritize projects while meeting deadlines.
Must have common sense, discretion and pay attention to detail.
Must have a team-player attitude and work well with others both internally and externally.
Ability to work non-traditional hours as many events occur in the evening and/or on weekends.
Must be available to travel as needed.
