Responsibilities
The Director, Technology & Operations is an integral member of the NBCUniversal Owned Stations Technology & Operations team which is responsible for the technology leadership of the 28 business units that comprise the NBCU OTS group. The Director will be responsible for managing a large variety of technology and operational projects at both the national and local level. Projects will involve analysis, execution, and support of operations and technology solutions. Specifically this business-facing individual will meet with the various stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities and resolve gaps using custom and/or vendor technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Project management for division initiatives - managing projects from conceptual stage through to launch including budget tracking and reporting
Technology subject matter expert on projects ranging from small scale broadcast technology projects up to full station builds. These will include all the technology used to support our operations, from traditional broadcast engineering, through IT and newsroom production systems, to name just a few
Support for large-scale local projects working with outside vendors/contractors teams, such as systems integrators and architects
Provide technical and operational expertise and support to NBCE and Digital Media business units

Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications
Minimum 10 years technical and operations experience in large scale media environment
Familiarity with broadcast systems, IT and electronic media content workflows
Proven leader with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and with indirect and direct resources
Systems design, installation and testing experience from small scale projects to large scale projects, possibly from working for a systems integrator or from working in a broadcaster’s project team
Strong understanding of television production (live and non-live), news operations, digital media, out-of-home and broadcast operations
Extensive experience working with non-linear editing solutions and file-based workflows
Solid understanding of systems and information technology including network (LAN/WAN/SAN), storage, server, desktop, and business systems
Strong finance skills and working with large scale budgets
Identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats associated with projects and initiatives
Support and troubleshoot issues (process & system), identify root causes, and proactively implement sustainable corrective actions
Help track industry and technology trends, to help the organization understand the risks and opportunities they present
Establish and serve as a subject matter expert in specific areas of station operations
Collaborate with local technology leaders to perform root cause analysis and continuously improve owned operational processes
Work independently, gain vendor trust, and find procedural and technical solutions to problems
Develop presentations that capture functional and technical project details
Occasional off-hours support may be necessary to address outages or pressing system issues
Partner with and develop strong stakeholder relationships with business leaders - this includes working closely with O&T business units

Requirements
B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent work experience
Position requires schedule flexibility and participation in occasional night/weekend incident escalation and troubleshooting activities and willingness to travel
Ability to work and communicate effectively under tight deadlines, in high-pressure situations and in a team-oriented environment
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter demonstrating initiative and ability to work independently with little supervision
Process oriented and very organized
Overall strong computer/technology skills
