Role Value Proposition: 

The Director of Operational Risk Management will support the US Operational Risk function in the design and implementation of MetLife’s operational risk management framework within the US LOBs. He/she will partner with:

 

Enterprise Operational Risk Management in the alignment to MetLife’s enterprise-wide operational risk management framework and;
First line operational risk managers to ensure effective implementation of that framework
 

This associate will play a key role in the implementation of MetLife’s Enterprise operational risk management framework to support the U.S. lines of business in identifying, monitoring and managing key operational risks to the delivery of our strategic priorities. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting in the development of MetLife’s enterprise-wide operational risk management framework, including implementation of operational risk related policies and procedures.
Partner with Audit, Compliance, IT Risk, and other second and first line operational risk functions to coordinate testing and self-assessment activities.
Drive common risk assessment practices, centralized collection, and utilize results to improve operational risk assessment activities.
Support  operational risk loss event capture, analysis, monitoring and reporting activities and assist in identifying emerging operational risk trends or specific vulnerabilities that are not identified or appropriately prioritized in existing risk assessments.
Track remediation plans on material risk events and issues to ensure control gaps are closed.
Assist in the deployment of MetLife’s enterprise Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC) ORM platform.
Assist in the design, collection, tracking and reporting of key operational risk metrics for senior management and applicable risk committees.
Contribute to and participate in various operational risk governance forums.
Remain current with industry operational risk trends and regulatory areas of focus.
Act as a trusted advisor to second line risk assurance functions and first line operational risk managers.
Key Stakeholders: Head of Corporate Risk Management, and Regional Operational Risk Management teams
 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

10+ years of relevant experience; direct work experience in risk management, audit or compliance a plus.
Proactive, intellectually curious, operate with a sense of urgency.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical skills including the ability to perform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective action.
Ability to develop strong business relationships, partner and coordinate in a cross-functional environment.
 

Preferred:

Professional designation (e.g. Certified Public Accountant, Certified Enterprise Risk Analyst, etc.).
