The Lake County Distribution Center (LCDC) is the North America hub for Abbott’s Diagnostic Distribution. LCDC is a state of the art distribution center (DC), which encompasses 345,000 sq. feet of storage (i.e., 15C to 30C, 2C to 8C, -20C). The DC utilizes an automated pick by light system for less than case quantities along with traditional full pallet and full case processing areas. Many of the shipments are temperature controlled or hazardous requiring a high level of compliance. Value add services are provided for customers utilizing Abbott’s RFID inventory management system.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION

The DISTRIBUTION SUPERVISOR is responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. Manage the direct activities of an area within a department or function. Provides direct supervision to professional; direct or indirect labor staff. Insure that plans are implemented, and milestones are achieved. Direct the activities of staff to achieve objectives at lowest cost.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
Gather and prepare trend information and recommend areas of focus.
Assist in the preparation of the financial plan; gather financial and other data to support the plan.
Assist in the development of the capital plan by identifying projects to improve processes; reduce costs; and maintain operations.
Sets standards and monitors staff performance; provide performance feedback; write and conduct appraisals for employees; recommend merit increases and promotions; deliver rewards and sanctions.
Provide technical expertise and guidance.
Understand detailed area operations (function specific).; Regularly makes decisions which impact quality; time or cost; timely decisions are required regarding issues such as to proceed or abort; work OT; etc.
Manages assigned projects; work cross functionally to identify changes and necessary resources.
Develop and recommend departmental reward and recognition programs.
Assist employees in the creation of development plans; work with employees to meet their development needs.
Establish the motivational climate for the group.
Communicate work center/department objectives and results.
Uses time effectively; both for self and others; identifies appropriate meeting participants and uses meetings effectively.
Coach teams; provide guidance; direction; training; resources; and time.; Direct supervision of workforce.
Create a climate of trust and respect within the group.
Exchanges information with employees; peers; and management regarding operations.
Conducts individual discussions with employees; including performance reviews; and development; discipline; and staffing interviews.
Interviews candidates for positions on the direct staff.
Interact with peers in operations and within other cross-functional groups.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree or equivalent operations experience.
3+ years in Supply Chain, Distribution or Operations. Experience may include manufacturing or distribution environment; knowledge of materials and inventory computer systems.
Previous experience managing hourly associates
Fork-lift certification required
Ability to work flexible, off-shift hours based on business demand
Able to work in cold storage/freezer at -20˚ C or colder
Able to work in cooler at 2˚ C to 8˚ C
Able to work at heights up to 40 feet
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
PREFERRED POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience with CAPA and Change control preferred
Thorough understanding of Abbott
