Engineer In-Use

Job Summary
Administers In-Use testing activities in the United States. This includes coordination of VWGoA’s In-Use Verification Program (IUVP) and In-Use Confirmatory Program (IUCP) as required by regulations.
Oversees government surveillance programs and other related in-use test programs (e.g. PEMS).
Coordinates the EEO-Workshop activities.
Supports local certification testing activities, including confirmatory and compliance testing.
Supports EEO data base activities.
Job Responsibilities
In-Use Verification Program – (65%)
Administers In-Use Verification Program as required by Federal law set forth in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).  This responsibility includes annual IUVP Calendar Year test planning, tracking of progress, testing, and reporting.
Coordinates third party vehicle procurement and testing.
Coordinates In-Use testing at Volkswagen Emission Laboratory.
Provides In-Use Program testing result summaries to factory certification and powertrain development technical staff.
Coordinates with other EEO groups regarding follow-up to In-Use testing results.
Supports additional interactions with agency staff regarding in-use testing results and next steps.
Oversee procurement activities, progress and agency contact as needed.
Supports additional in-use testing and EEO regulatory activities as required.
Supports EEO data base activities (e.g. EPA Verify database)
Supports PEMS related testing matters.
 
 
Certification and General Regulatory Activities – (25%)
Support local certification test programs, including vehicle preparation and testing, vehicle readiness for agency certification vehicle confirmatory testing and/or surveillance test programs.
Supports with the VWGoA, VW AG and AUDI AG Emission Committees.
Supports other EEO regulatory activities as required.
 
EEO Workshop Activities – (10%)
Coordinates and oversees the different activities in the EEO Workshop.
 
Required Experience
5-7 years of light-duty vehicle emissions and related engineering experience
Required Degree
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent
Desired Degree
Master’s Degree in Engineering
Required Skills
English language skills
Automotive background
Knowledge of light duty vehicle certification
Knowledge of emission measurement procedures and equipment (both on road and laboratory
Emission testing process knowledge
Ability to work well independently and with minimal to no supervision
Desired Skills
Practical experience in automotive industry
Understanding of regulatory process
Understanding of vehicle emission control systems
Knowledge of Portable Emissions Measurement Systems (PEMS)
German language skills
Work Flexibility
Willing to travel to various test locations in the US and Germany.  (10%)
