The Agile Coach provides guidance, mentoring, and coaching
to Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Managers, Executives, and other Agile
transformation partners. The coach works onsite with his/her client 4
days per week and is expected to travel if needed. The immediate opportunity is
a long-term engagement in Northern CA, and will require someone local or
willing to relocate.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Designing a strategy for
the organizational adoption of Agile. This includes every stage of
adoption, from the introduction of Agile and team's education, to
fostering teams and cultures that practice Agile, to sustaining Agile
methodologies and continually offering strategies for improvement.
Starting up a
transformation for 5-to-10 Teams
Providing a transformation
plan for a SAFe ART, a set of Cognizant Digital Engineering pods, a LeSS
adoption; or a Scrum@Scale engagement
Training Execution, running SoS, and an Agile / Product Roadmap roll-out
Management of the
Cognizant Coaches / Scrum Masters at the client, in a matrixed manner; you
will be onsite at the client 4 days per week
communicate with internal and external customers with respect to agile
methods and practices for rapid application team development and
Serve as a strong leader
and an advocate for the adoption of Agile-be assertive about alignment to
Agile processes and enthusiastic about Agile practices and their benefits.
Work with senior leaders
to define strategies and roadmaps for transitioning to Lean/Agile
Lead the coaching
activities across one-to-many functional areas.
Lead workshops &
training sessions to educate individuals on Agile Values, Principles, and
Mentor and pair with RTEs,
SRE's, Product Management, Scrum Masters, and partners within client
organizations on becoming internal Lean/Agile champions and creating a
sustaining Agile capabilities.
Bachelor's degree (or combination of relevant education and experience)
You are an active SAFe Program Consultant 4.0+ and have no less than seven years of practical Agile experience, and have actively held certifications such as Certified ScrumMaster®, Certified Scrum Professional®, or SAFe Agilist for five or more years. During this time you have demonstrated strong knowledge and passion for Agile within an organization that uses the Scaled Agile Framework®.
You have at least five years of Agile coaching experience - you use a varied coaching approach to cultivate the capabilities, skills and knowledge of all Agile team members, team/program partners, and senior leaders, including:
You have three plus years of experience working as an external Agile coach/consultant where you have shown your solid understanding of how to elicit true customer needs and deliver services aligned with their desired business outcomes.
Experience defining and managing the scope of a Statement of Work.
Experience handling the budget of the engagement.
As both an educator and coach, must possess great interpersonal skills, teaching abilities, and a capacity to inspire and motivate.

Expertise in providing 1:1 and 1: many Agile Coaching
Experience as a trusted advisor to organizations when guiding them through their Lean/Agile transformations.
