Governance & Controls Senior Analyst
Purpose of Role
This role is responsible for driving our governance and controls strategy by partnering with the business across multiple functions (supply, procurement, sales, marketing, etc) to drive process improvements, identify risks and implement controls, deliver initiatives & best practices, maintain documentation of internal controls, complete required corporate reporting, and ensure compliance with all Mars Finance accounting policies.
Drive our governance and control strategy while coaching, teaching, and influencing others to standardize and implement efficiencies in processes
Develop, implement and monitor company accounting policies and ensure compliance in accordance with the MARS Financial Manual and US GAAP
Understand the company’s key financial processes & controls, establish best practices and recommend improvements. Supported by:
Ensuring the company maintains good process documentation (narratives/flow charts)
Performing risk analysis and propose/ partner to implement financial controls or enhancements where required
Development/ maintain central repository of control process documentation and company policies
Implementing control testing plan to ensure operating effectiveness
Support internal and external audits, by ensuring planned and efficient audit, driving accountability to implement process improvements identified and ensuring all improvements and actions are completed
Prepare and support governance updates and training materials to the business, sites, and management team, including reporting metrics for governance & controls
Provide financial guidance as the technical accounting & controls resource for the Company, determining accounting interpretation on policies as well as alignment with global team, including alignment with Corporate Accounting where appropriate
Support manager in leading the coordination of the completion and submission of all corporate reporting, including controls submissions, Theft and Fraud, and other quarterly and annual reporting reconciliation review process.
Support the business to maintain desk manual of responsibilities procedures, deadlines and contacts
