Job Description

The Grants Manager B for the Division of General Internal Medicine provides research administration and financial management support to Division investigators. This includes managing proposal development, budget development and related pre-award activities for a diverse sponsor portfolio. Pre-award work will consist of assisting PIs in writing/gathering the necessary pieces for the grant submission including but not limited to: facilities, drafting letters of support, budgets, drafting budget justifications for the PI, maintain and update resource pages and biosketches, and maintain and update other support pages. Managing post award activities includes account setup, monitoring and review of all sponsored projects expenditures- including fund projections, recommending/implementing corrective actions as needed to ensure timely and accurate grant closeouts, and running monthly grant reports. The Grants Manager will monitor and enforce compliance with sponsor guidelines, OMB Uniform Guidance, and school and university policies, and meet with principal investigators to discuss and advise them on financial issues related to their portfolios. This individual will also work on the more complicated grants, including training grants and program projects with multiple sub-contracts. The Grants Manager B will also work independently and actively participate in specific projects, including the annual PSOM budget submission.


The Grants Manager B reports to the Administrative Financial Officer within DGIM; will have an indirect reporting relationship on an as needed basis with the Division Administrator; and also will work closely with the Associate Director.


The typical salary range for this position is: $59,703 – $86,569.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 5-7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience in grant and contract administration is required. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience with NIH and other federal granting agencies is required. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Adobe, and Business Objects. Excellent critical thinking, analytical, verbal and written communication is required. Working knowledge of Uniform Guidance is required. Ability to apply solid organizational and time management skills to a very deadline driven environment. Demonstrated competency in the ability to multi-task in a competing priority work load is required. Familiarity with UPENN sponsored research policies and related financial system is preferred. The candidate will possess strong organizational, data management and documentation skills, is attentive to detail and strives for accurate results, has the ability to work both independently and cooperatively, and demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality with respect to highly sensitive data required.
