We have an exciting opportunity for a HANDLING SUPERVISOR which supports and ensures operational activities are in alignment with profit and expense goals, while providing the highest possible service to the market customer base, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and government regulations and providing a work-environment conducive to superior productivity, safety, quality and morale. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Manage, oversee, and perform supervisory tasks associated with warehousing and distribution including picking, packing, shipping, receiving, labeling, kitting, loading/unloading, putting-away, cycle and wall to wall counting, customs control, inventory auditing and inventory management and control.
Utilizes various pieces of material handling equipment such as pallet movers, standup forklifts, swing-reach trucks, and order pickers.
Oversee warehouse operations to include all or part of receiving, storage, inventory control, picking/packing, assembly, and distribution activities.
Provide customer support for logistics problems.
Coordinate transportation of customer materials to and from the Hub/Gateway facility and with sales, regional management and service centers, regarding development and retention of customer base.
Manage inbound shipment receipt and inventory control, warehousing, customs control, outbound shipment preparation, and dispatch.
Assume responsibility for good working practices, safety, and security for customer inventory.
Develop, recommend, and implement process and procedure improvements for service delivery to the customer.
Provide customized solutions for customers in the areas of warehousing, inventory control and analysis, transportation, and technical support.
Responsible for the Key Performance indicators. Ensures budget targets are met.

Managerial Duties:

Supervise managerial and unionized staff; responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing subordinate staff.
Assign work, set completion dates, review work, and manage performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes.
Additional responsibilities include grievance administration, conflict resolution, mentoring and consistent application of disciplinary actions in accordance with Company policy or CBA.


Skills / Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience with operations, distribution, or supply chain management in a high flow environment including establishing standard warehouse operating procedures or equivalent academic credentials in Logistics, Supply Chain Management and/or Industrial engineering.
Demonstrated literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Previous operational experience and staff management with a Union workforce
P & L including budgeting, forecasting & reporting
Comprehensive knowledge of distribution methods and procedures
Demonstrated ability to apply technology-operating tools (WMS-Barcode Scanning, Track & Trace).
Flexible: 24/7 operations
Multi-modal (i.e. Ocean, Air, Import, Export, TL, LTL)
Excellent communication skills (i.e. verbal, written, presentations), organizational skills, team building skills, and leadership skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
