Industrial Engineer Intern - Summer 2019

Position Summary:

Complete a 10-14 week program in the corporate office, working with process improvement and corporate labor managers, to assist with various projects focused on work process improvements and efficiencies. Apply theoretical concepts learned in a classroom setting to hands-on work assignments interacting with all business sections of the Freshness & Standards, Labor & Expense team, Friendly & Experience team and other corporate groups. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions:

Support engineering projects within Freshness & Standards, Labor & Expense and/or Friendly & Experience
Assist with creating work methods and best practice studies
Work in partnership to develop best practices and new work processes
Assist in documenting studies, including but not limited to time studies
Collaborate and assist with updating, maintaining and improving business reporting functions
Participate regularly in department meetings
Complete cumulative project (summary of internship accomplishments) and present to executive team or appropriate managers at completion of program
Complete other specific internship assignments
Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
Minimum Position Qualifications/Education: 

Enrolled in an accredited college or university
Pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering
Minimum 3.0 GPA in major
Proven financial and statistical data analysis skills
Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Excel
Proficient in Microsoft Visio, Word and Power Point
Ability to learn how to complete research and analysis summaries using statistical analysis
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to respond to change as a positive challenge
Ability to preserve confidentiality of information
Accuracy and attention to detail and ability to multitask
Ability to work on own initiative
Commitment to providing customer service
Desired Previous Experience:

Knowledge of process improvement tools and techniques such as 6 Sigma or Toyota Production System Principles
Proficient in Hyperion Essbase
Experience in a professional work environment
Ability to manage priorities between school, work and/or extra-curricular activities
Involvement in high school or college leadership and community activities
 
Education Level: High School Diploma/ GED Required
