Caterpillar’s Surface Mining and Technology Division is currently seeking an Industry Account Manager to be located in Peoria, IL. In this role you will be Responsible for generating leads through marketing events such as conference presentations, keynotes, webinars, trade shows; developing sales pipeline across target industries by inspiring safety, operations, and executive leadership teams to engage our services to change safety culture; and delivering sales results in the safety culture and leadership portfolio. The Industry Account Manager will work directly with customers in the field, as well as dealers and Caterpillar employees.

The Industry Account Manager (IAM) enables the Safety Services team to positively impact employees around the world by inspiring change in the decision makers of our customer organizations. In order to be successful, the IAM must first be passionate about people. We create a safer world by helping our customers identify safety culture and leadership gaps and then improve performance though our consultative processes and tools. The IAM must gain an understanding of our principles and techniques and then deploy our sales methodology to inspire customers to change.

Generation of leads and sales opportunities comes through leading presentations either electronically or in person. IAMs must be confident in front of diverse audiences, delivering our capabilities presentation or developing their own content to illustrate our principles. Creatively sharing personal stories and experiences in the field give credibility to the IAM as not just a salesperson, but a trusted advisor.

The IAM must be disciplined in following processes and documenting lead and opportunity nurturing activities in Salesforce, our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool. Performance around these activities with a focus on the end sales goal are the measures of success in this role. This requires attention to detail and comfort with using information systems extensively.

IAMs communicate with other members of the Safety Services team (Marketing, Administrative, Consulting) on a daily basis to ensure the processes of proposal generation & delivery, consulting event execution and follow-up are completed with excellence. The values of integrity, teamwork, commitment and excellence are essential in IAMs to foster success of the team.

Travel is a regular part of the IAMs role, as they travel to industry conferences, trade shows and customer sites for marketing and sales events. The majority of travel will be within North America, with the potential of occasional overseas events. IAMs can expect approximately 50% travel.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: * Bachelor’s degree

* 5+ years work experience in safety, sales, leadership, or marketing.


Top candidates will also have:

* Experience with the Caterpillar Safety Services Zero Incident Performance (ZIP) process

* Excellent organization, communication, and customer interface skills.

* Leadership, business acumen and excellent negotiation skills are beneficial.
