Job Description:

The Respiratory Care Department seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure track Instructor position. Teaching assignments will include lecture, laboratory, and clinical instruction. The position includes a 15 contact-hour per week teaching load plus a minimum of five office hours per week. In addition, the Instructor will participate in curricula development and review, assessment, laboratory course development and other department and college-wide activities. The Instructor is also expected to keep up with their field by actively engaging in professional development.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A candidate for this position must have a Master's Degree and be a licensed NY State Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist. We seek an Instructor with a minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in classroom, lab, and clinical in addition to a minimum of 1 year of current clinical experience in respiratory care. We are also seeking a candidate with the following National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) Credentials: Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS), Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS), and Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT). All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's Degree of Science in Healthcare, Education, or Public Health Administration is strongly preferred, in addition to Basic Life Support Provider (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider (PALS). A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in classroom, lab, and clinical in addition to a minimum of 8 years of current clinical experience in respiratory care strongly preferred. Lectures in professional seminars centered around continuing education and professional development also preferred.

SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $64,841 plus excellent benefits.
