Maintains boundaries, monitors for abuse, and coordinates custodial activities for Region 3 Heritage Preserves. Builds and erects improvements to facilitate visitor enjoyment and safety as well as protect natural resources. Assists withhabitat management, surveying, monitoringand restoration activities of Region 3 Heritage Preserves. Maintains good records of activities and completion of tasks as well as monthly reports/forms. Performs required upkeep and maintenance of all equipment. Conducts tours, gives presentations, maintains volunteer stewardship groups, and fosters good relationships with all user groups and local residents.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and two (2) years of experience in wildlife or fisheries work or an associate degree in the technical sciences.
Proficiency in the use of ATV's, boats, and chainsaws. Knowledge of agricultural machinery and implements. Basic carpentry and construction skills. Ability to obtain prescribed fire manager certification, pesticide applicator's license, DLEO commission, and commercial driver's license. Ability to lift heavy objects, perform strenuous tasks and work with the general public.
