What you’ll be doing...
You will be responsible for Inter-Office (IOF) Provisioning within the Core Network Engineering team. You will be responsible for identifying network facilities that provide voice and data communication paths through-out Verizon-owned central offices. The circuit route provides a transport path between two terminating locations used to connect and operate a circuit (low and/or high bandwidth).
The circuit route is designed using TIRKS (Trunk Integrated Record Keeping System) which is an inventory record-keeping and provisioning system. A Planning Design Access Code, or PDAC, is what is created by IOF Provisioning Engineers to represent a unique route between two points in the network.
IOF Provisioning handles all levels of circuits, from DS0 level, which is a single telephone line, up to SONET (Synchronous Optical Network) circuits that are capable of carrying multiple DS3 level circuits. IOF Provisioning also supports Ethernet Private Line (EPL) which is a circuit type that combines optical access technologies with interoffice transport and provides multiple interfaces ranging from electrical DS0 to optical OC192 and eventually 100-500G wave length services within Nautilus
Customer orders from both Wholesale and Enterprise flow into IOF Provisioning via UUI/CoFEE, where the order is reviewed and the IOF Provisioner provides a PDAC and sends the order through the system. Orders also come into IOF Provisioning via TIRKS PC List or retrieved from other Operational Support Systems in order to be reviewed and worked.
Once orders are reviewed and updated in TIRKS by IOF Provisioning, the next step is to move the orders into the flow so that E2E can route to the Circuit Provisioning Center (CPC) for field distribution which allows for circuit test and turn up.
IOF Provisioning is a one-stop shop for many organizations in need of support associated with circuit routing and support with UUI/CoFEE and TIRKS orders in general. Daily requests for assistance are received from Sales, IOF Planning, E1, Outside Plant, CPC, CATC, OCO, Switch Planning, E911/SS7 and staff groups.
On-time performance with regard to addressing orders and moving them to the next work group is critical to the overall successful and timely turn-up of both Interoffice and customer facilities and in achieving Verizon’s Committed Date Due (CDD) and Firm Order Commitment (FOC) objectives. Therefore, orders that flow to IOF Provisioning via UUI/CoFEE and TIRKS PC List are measured and tracked according to time sensitive performance standards.
Lastly, IOF Provisioning offers systems growth development. As new Verizon architecture is deployed new provisioning systems such as Nautilus will require new provisioning learning opportunities, specifically surrounding the decommissioning of legacy technologies and migration to the Intelligent Edge Network (iEN).
