Be a leader in an energetic and vibrant team in a growing business unit.
Lead tasks associated with performing energy and mechanical engineering studies on a variety of commercial energy projects.
Energy analysis includes developing utility rate simulations, energy models, energy savings calculations, and energy analysis reports.
Mechanical engineering includes preparing mechanical systems plans, specifications, and study reports, as well as coordinating with mechanical contractors to ensure project scope of work is installed correctly.
Role will include visiting existing buildings to collect relevant information related to HVAC, Building Automation Systems, and lighting systems.
Role will include helping to define and develop project scope of work.
May contribute to strategizing the sale of a project and assisting in sales presentations.
Provide technical leadership for junior-level engineers on team.
Other duties may be assigned.
This job might be for you if you have:
Four-year science or engineering degree.
Seven to Twelve years relevant work experience in the MEP Design field, preferably with commercial buildings in California.
Advanced understanding of building mechanical systems and relevant building/energy codes.
Strong interest in energy engineering and analysis with an intermediate understanding of building energy use.
Basic understanding of energy modeling and load calculation software, such as eQuest, Carrier’s HAP, Trane Trace, or Energy Pro.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document, describe, and present complex technical ideas to non-technical customers.
Desire to train and mentor junior-level engineers.
Advanced ability to use Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple demands and assignments, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently, and the ability to manage resource procurement and utilization.
Professional Engineer license is preferred.

The majority of the work is sedentary. However, when performing job site visits the employee will encounter: moving over rough or uneven surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy to light items. Transporting of items such as laptop computers, tools, ladders and other heavy equipment; driving an automobile, etc.
While performing the primary functions of the job, the employee is regularly exposed a general office environment. During periods of project site visits, the employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions as well as mechanical equipment rooms which could consist of confined spaces and loud noises. Employee may work in different environments while on various job sites. This job will require approximately 20%-30% travel to project sites. Travel will occur through the use of an automobile or by airplane to destinations.
