William & Mary invites applications for the position of Media Specialist to provide essential daily support of technical, audiovisual, instructional and service infrastructure of the Swem Library’s Charles W. Reeder Media Center; provides technical expertise and creative support for advanced audiovisual services and media production; provides media-related instruction in formal and informal settings; assists with major Media Center projects; provides support for major faculty/student media projects; demonstrates advanced expertise in the use of industry-standard hardware and software. The Media Specialist will responsible for the supervision, training and evaluation student employees. This position will be evening hours with occasional day, weekend and holiday hours possible.

Required Qualifications•Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of experience and
• Experience with developing and delivering training and instruction in
multimedia production
• Experience with digital media production and design
• Working knowledge of digital media creation equipment and software
related to multimedia production and post- production; (particularly new and
convergent media
• Demonstrated knowledge and creative competence with computer
applications for multimedia design and development, particularly through
the use of industry-standard software tools on the Macintosh platform (Final
Cut Studio, Logic Pro, Adobe Creative Suite).
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of digital video and digital photography
equipment including DSLRs, digital video cameras, digital audio recorders,
wired and wireless microphones, camera stabilizers, lighting systems, field
audio mixers, andlenses.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be a quick learner
with strong commitment to quality user services, ability to work
independently, identify problems and solutions, initiate and implement
solutions, use good judgment and make sound decisions

Preferred Qualifications•Bachelor’s degree in Media Arts or related field.
• Experience with completing creative projects using digital media,
including audio and video production, especially in an academic
• Working knowledge of studio recording and mixing techniques as
well as hardware (control surfaces, mixers, audio interfaces,
microphones) and software for recording in a university teaching
• Supervisory experience (of students, volunteers or staff)
• Experience working with public in a customer service role
• Strong interest in teaching and / or training
