Job Description Summary
The Technician / Program Coordinator will coordinate the day-to-day working of the equine assisted reproduction laboratory, which performs both clinical work (producing embryos for horse owners) and research in areas related to fertilization and early embryonic development in the horse.
The Technician / Program coordinator is the primary contact person with clients, referring veterinarians, stallion owners and embryo transfer centers for the clinical program, and informs potential clients on techniques and expectations of assisted reproductive procedures and the outcomes of the work with their animals. The coordinator organizes oocyte, semen and embryo movement in and out of laboratory. The position also entails ordering, and coordinating the maintenance of, supplies and equipment for the laboratory, and recording data for both clinical and research programs, and assisting with research.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Proficient computer skills required to include MS-Office or similar software
-Knowledge of horses and the equine industry
-Knowledge of basic biology
Research Specialist A: Bachelor's or equivalent degree in biology or related field
Experience with horses and the horse industry
Research Specialist B: Same as above, 1 - 3 years experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
