We are looking for a team member that will collaborate openly and has proficient oral and written communications skills. As a Network Engineer, you will wear many hats, working on such tasks as switch and firewall deployment and maintenance, network management, VM management, and basic technology troubleshooting. We do not require you have competency in all these areas, and will provide on-the-job training for areas that need reinforcement.
The Network Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of networking hardware and software. As a Network Engineer, you will maintain Cisco and other vendor’s equipment. You will also provide user support and lead troubleshooting efforts. You will research and recommend creative methods for network engineering tasks.
Responsibilities of the Network Engineer include:
Install & configure new networking hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project requirements.
Work with users to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Virtual Machine management
Perform system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Develop and maintain installation, configuration, and operational procedures.
Contribute to and maintain system standards.
Research and recommend innovative methods for networking tasks.
U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from an accredited university with six (6) years’ experience relevant to Information Technology OR twelve (12) years’ work experience relevant to Information Technology in lieu of degree.
Salary and grade commensurate with experience
Possess an active TS SCI security clearance
Design, integrate, configure, deploy, test, and maintain numerous types of network devices, interfaces and technologies
Resolve complex network problems and operate network analyzers, WAN test equipment, and network simulators
Draft technical requirements, configuration management, and planning documentation
Demonstrated experience with Cisco Network Switches, Firewalls, as well as relevant network design and troubleshooting
Demonstrated experience with datacenter class network switch troubleshooting, including the Cisco Nexus and Chassis based switch operations.
Experience with virtualization, including VMware applications
Experience with supporting various Linux variants
