News Group Accountant
NBC News and MSNBC
The News Group Accountant role will support both the transition to monthly close and ongoing monthly close activities, plus various transactional activity across NBC News Group, including Broadcast News and MSNBC. The role will report into the Senior Accounting Manager, News Group.
Own various aspects of monthly close including recording entries and reconciling certain balance sheet areas across News Group
Manage News Group accounts receivable, including various billing, monitoring collections and bad debt
Prepare quarterly data requests for SEC Reporting Team
Clearing error suspense and monitoring GL level activity for reporting accuracy.
Run financial reports to support the team leading into monthly close and monitor trending. Help operational finance teams trouble-shoot and act as a go-to resource for reporting questions within certain areas.
Help maintain News Group system reporting hierarchy and quickly build familiarity with SAP/BW to ensure data can be pulled quickly and accurately.
Identify areas to streamline / centralize as processes shift to a monthly close environment versus quarterly
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 1+ years’ work experience
• Big 4 accounting experience desired
• CPA or working towards a CPA desired
• Familiarity with SAP/BW
• Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and verbal/written communication skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities
