Job TitleOffice and Field AssistantDepartmentUniversity Police OfficeJob Description/DutiesThe Office & Field Assistant will work in the University Police Department in both an indoor office setting and outdoor field setting. Specific duties include assisting with research and data collection, data entry, typing documents, records filing, preparing research materials, printing/copying, materials designing, parking control, traffic control, materials handling, event set-up, operations, and breakdown.
Days/Hours NeededThe Office and Field Assistant will work primarily daytime hours Monday – Friday. However, some evening hours along with some weekends may be required.
Campus Location/Bldg.The Office and Field Assistant will work in the University Police Department, Whitaker Hall.
The Office and Field Assistant will work at both the University Police Station in addition to also working outside and within various buildings on campus.
Required QualificationsMust be an enrolled SUNY Cortland student for the Spring 2020 Semester.
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong communications skills.
Ability to work well under limited supervision.
Posses a valid driver’s license issued by an empowered authority.
Have possessed a valid driver’s license for a minimum of two years.
Previous experience working with a Public Safety Agency or an interest in working in Public Safety and/or Emergency Management.
Physical DemandsThe Office and Field Assistant will be expected to move items weighing approximately 35 pounds, as well as standing and/or walking for prolonged periods of time. The Office and Field Assistant may be required to work in inclement weather conditions.
