Position Description
If you are up for the challenge of developing the next generation of production plants and want to be a part of the innovative world of Volvo Group, this is the graduate program for you!

During 15 intense and exciting months, starting September 2019, the program will give you a holistic view of the Volvo Group’s global truck manufacturing organization. You will get to know our different brands and their plants and learn about our logistics organizations and activities. You will take a deep dive into some specific areas of our business such as manufacturing, health and safety, quality, and continuous improvements, while also learning about the end to end supply chain, aftermarket parts, and our remanufacturing operations.
In parallel, you will grow as a person, through individual and team development sessions. You will have a permanent position from day one, with a manager and mentor to support you. You will experience several “on-the-job” rotations and have the opportunity to work on real project assignments. In addition, you will join a number of learning modules where you get together with other program participants to take part in trainings and events designed to help you grow into your future career at the Volvo Group.

Our organization:
Volvo Group Trucks in Hagerstown, Maryland is a unique site, combining Technology and Operations on one campus.  We blend powertrain engineering and innovation with production and technology to develop and manufacture the heart of vehicles. The 11 and 13 liter engines and the Automated Manual Transmission are assembled for Mack Trucks, Volvo Trucks, Volvo Bus, and Prevost Coaches. We also machine and assemble the axle and T300 transmission for the Mack Trucks brand.

This is us, your new team:
We are a Machining Team focused on creating, optimizing & supporting the processes to produce Camshafts, Crankshafts, Axle Components & Gears Safely, on time delivery and with a Continuous Improvement mindset, on our Team we currently have (5) Machining Manufacturing Engineers at various experience levels & (1) Assembly Manufacturing Engineer, this knowledge creates a good environment for mentoring and coaching to develop each employee. Approximately 75 Operators are spread across the (4) departments to produce the products. 
Eligible candidates must be recent (2017/2018) or expectant (May 2019) graduate.  Visa sponsorship is not offered for this role; therefore, US work authorization is required.

Main activities and responsibilities:

Planning of Operations, Work-sequences, and Production-resources under consideration of known production methods and standard-times.
Use work scientific, manufacturing and managerial insights in decision process.
Perform target-performance comparisons.
Up-time capacity and occupancy plans for the resource. Specify the type and number of required resources with a variety of functions. Cost estimate and work out a proposal for internal or external procurement, if necessary, arrange procurement.
Optimizing production processes for gains in OEE & Quality.
Create documentation on manufacturing / assembly process including creation of routings.
Create documentation including, component overviews, tool combinations and tool lists.
Check Existing work plans on improvement potentials and develop proposals for this purpose.
Evaluate Improvements. Create statements for different production technologies, protocols, regulations.
Participate on issues of value analysis, drafting standards and similar projects.
Participate in Problem Solving or Root Cause Analysis for Safety, Quality & Equipment. 
You will learn the Kaizen concept where the Problem is defined, the Actions are defined & the results are reported.    
Who are you?
To be successful in this role you will possess the following qualifications and mindset:
A BSc or MSc in engineering, preferably an Industrial Engineering Degree or equivalent
Maximum two years of previous working experience, prior to or after graduation.
Solid English skills, additional languages are meritorious
Microsoft Office competency at a highly skilled level.
You are curious and willing to learn and have a continuous improvement mindset
A communicative team player with the ambition to develop both yourself and the business that you are working in.
Experience in Manufacturing Engineering area is an advantage.
