Position TitlePart-time Administrative AssistantPosition Number Job Description SummaryThis position provides administrative support for the operations of the college’s Information Technology Department.

Major Duties-Provide primary telephone and scheduling support services for the Vice President for Information Technology (IT).
-Assists Vice President for IT with necessary report and document generation and document management.
-Submit online IT work requests based on support calls / emails received from faculty, staff & students.
-Update online IT work requests as status of work requests change.
-Enter / scan IT inventory data into IT inventory database.
-Generate necessary purchasing documents required for IT related purchases.
-Contact college’s IT vendors to obtain purchase quotes and to assist in resolving IT related purchasing problems, etc.
-Provide assistance and information to faculty, staff and students regarding their various EGSC user accounts.
-Provide assistance to faculty and staff when reserving and returning IT equipment (portable LCD projectors, laptops, etc.)
-As necessary, provide assistance to IT department staff with IT related support issues / tasks.

Knowledge Required by the Position-Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
-Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
-Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office, Internet browsers).
-Excellent customer service skills.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Supervisory ControlsThe VP for IT assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results

Complexity/Scope of WorkThe work consists of related administrative support duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for the college’s Information Technology department. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of department operations.

ContactsContacts are typically with co-workers, other college personnel, students, vendors, and members of the general public.
Contacts are typically to provide services, to give or exchange information, or to resolve problems.

Physical DemandsThe work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
The work is typically performed in an office.

Supervisory and Management ResponsibilityNone.

Minimum Qualifications-Minimum of one-year work-related experience utilizing job-related software (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Internet browsers).
-Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one year.

Preferred QualificationsAssociates degree is preferred.
