ResponsibilitiesVenice Family Clinic is a community health center that provides quality health care to people in need. Our providers are committed to the populations we serve and to the mission of the clinic. Under the leadership of the Chief Medical Officer, the Venice Family Clinic Nurse Practitioner evaluates, treats, and makes appropriate diagnostic and specialty referrals for our patients. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the RNP works cooperatively with peers on medical management issues, changes in medical practice and procedures, and the design of more effective and efficient service delivery. The RNP reports to the Associate Medical Director. The RNP is an integral part of the clinic staff, providing leadership and expertise on medical and patient care issues. Because the Venice Family Clinic has a large volunteer program, the RNP has a unique role in orienting and providing technical support to the volunteer medical providers. This responsibility includes providing a positive role model, ensuring that volunteers understand Venice Family Clinic procedures and providing continuity of care for patients. The RNP works cooperatively all Clinic departments including nursing, pharmacy, clinic coordinators, and Behavioral Health staff. The position requires flexibility in days and hours for clinical care, as some evening are included in the weekly schedule.
Assess, examine, initiate treatment and evaluate patients' medical and psycho-social problems. Provide health education and case management to patients. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team for consultation and supervision. Review charts requiring lab review, specific follow-up, case management and quality assurance. Triage health problems as needed of patients who walk-in and/or patient phone calls and provide appropriate management and follow-up. Provide collaborative consultation with community referral agencies. Teach, train, and supervise NP students as determined by medical doctor. Supervise and interact with volunteers as needed. Review labs, studies, consults, approve medication refills. Other duties as assigned within Venice Family Clinic.
QualificationsMSN with an NP specialty FNP required
Current, valid CA RN and Nurse Practitioner License required
NP National certification in specialty required.
Demonstrated skill in delivery of patient care required
Demonstrated work experience over 2 years in family practice required.
Working knowledge of State of California clinic licensing requirements
Demonstrated work experience of over 2 years in triage of outpatient medical problems required.
Bilingual Spanish/English communication skills required.
Demonstrated experience in supervising and training clinic personnel required.
