IAS is looking for a Vice President that shares our consistent drive for success in Multi-Sector Portfolio Research. This is a rare role where you will be involved in both active interactions with large global institutional investors and you will have opportunities to present your research findings within PGIM and to the broader financial community

You will lead client-directed portfolio research projects, the development of portfolio construction methodologies, and the study of asset class risk and return characteristics. You will be responsible for responding to client multi-sector investment needs and requests, developing methodologies to pursue client investment objectives, crafting and performing simulations, and formulating and conducting research projects. Much of the research is conducted on a confidential basis for clients, but some may be shared more broadly in conference presentations and PGIM publications.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partnering with the IAS team to carry out the Group’s research program;
Modeling the expected returns of traditional and alternative assets, including their linkages between each other and with macroeconomic and market factors;
Designing and implementing research projects;
Collaborating with senior members to build and maintain long-term capital market assumptions, using the methodologies and insights of PGIM affiliates; and
Producing written research reports and client presentations.
Qualifications

3-5 years of experience in investment management, depending on education level (see below), with a focus on portfolio modeling and asset class (fixed income, equity, commodity and currency) level research;
Knowledge of private equity, debt and real estate markets is a plus;
An ability to utilize large data sets in a highly reliable, organized and timely manner;
A deep understanding of statistical methods (i.e., regression and time series analysis), risk modeling, optimization and simulation methodologies;
Experience using Matlab, Python or other programming languages;
Good understanding of portfolio and finance theory;
Proven ability to formulate and conduct research projects;
Experience supervising junior analysts;
A demonstrated ability to express ideas clearly and effectively, both in writing and orally;
Proven ability to write research reports and be responsible for presentations to clients and industry conferences;
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., economics, finance, computational finance, and applied mathematics) and 5 years of experience; or
Minimum Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., economics, finance, computational finance, and applied mathematics) and 3 years of experience.  A PhD is a plus.
Minimum 2 years of experience solving institutional portfolio problems including asset allocation and optimization and presenting results to clients; and
Progress toward the CFA designation is useful.

LEADERSHIP, TEAMWORK AND COMMUNICATION ABILITIES:

An ability and willingness to work with others, often under time pressure;
Strong investment and financial markets intuition;
A creative thinker who can suggest alternative research solutions and ideas, and
A self-starter, someone who can work productively without constant supervision.
