Job Title: Portfolio Analyst

Our Analytics and Reporting group forms part of a focused PSM (Pipeline Strategy Management) team who enable delivery of our rich and diverse pipeline. This group works collaboratively to optimize projects & the portfolio, working as a strategic business partner who provides state of the art information to enable optimal decision making & delivery. As a Portfolio Analyst you’ll play a pivotal role in channelling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on key business decisions. This role could be located in either the UK, US or Poland.
In this role you will be responsible for leadership of analytic pipeline projects and business presentations for the global portfolio organization.
You will apply your analytical skills, and high level of proficiency with Excel, modelling, tool creation, strategic thinking ability and excellent problem-solving skills. You will independently drive for results and brings ideas to action, finding solutions to ‘hidden’ problems.
Uses expertise and knowledge ofthe entire AZ and competitive pipelines to develop and Portfolio objectives for inclusion into AstraZeneca’s annual business objectives and to deliver quarterly analysis to senior leadership.
Maintains a high degree of understanding and awareness on new strategic and portfolio management trends and developments
Contributes to or manages the development of the senior management team in area of expertise
Strategic thinking- Working on various projects that require analysis and ability to make strategic recommendations based on that analysis.
Problem solving- Using structure and methodology to solve complex problems or questions
Tool creation- works with team to build tools to create visualizations or support decision making
Databases- Building and maintaining databases to answer key business objectives
Modeling- Building and maintaining databases complex models for analysis of portfolio
Collaboration- with PSM management, Systems team, GMD leadership and TALTs to support business decisions.
Improving processes across the Analytics and Science Unit team. Feedback best practices across the PSM group and works to support improvement of our systems
Ensure all reporting and analysis adheres to high quality and consistency standards.
To succeed in this role you will have a proven track record of proactive problem solving skills, strong stakeholder management,and being able to present well-constructed, useful analytics and solutions. In addition you will have:
BS or BA degree qualification in Business, Mathematics, Finance, Market Research, Decision Sciences, Statistics or similar and relevant subject
Significant experience in in a similar analytical role gained within a pharma/biotech or consulting, and/or strong academic record in courses requiring business analytics and research
Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry experience in drug development related areas, gained either directly, or through consulting projects.
Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
Proven ability to work through complex problems and use analytical ability to interpret and communicate them effectively
Advanced skills in software applications such as Excel and PowerPoint to deliver impactful analyses.
Extensive experience working in a drug development environment.
Experience in databases and data modelling within a Pharmaceutical/Medical Device/Healthcare industry.
Extensive knowledge of portfolio and project management systems, and the ability to use data sets from them to solve problems within a Pharmaceutical/Medical Device/Healthcare industry.
