Production Manager - WCAU/WWSI
Owned Stations & Affiliate Relations
The Production Manager will be responsible for the studio & remote production visions, daily newscast quality control, elevating the production staff of the station and will work on high level projects with Tech Ops and News. A healthy mix of both technical and creative skills along with a passion to continuously push the production towards perfection by fostering teamwork and ongoing education are just a few of the qualities desired.

Job Duties
Supervise and direct the on-air technical staff throughout the entire broadcast day (24X7) of approximately 20 employees including APC Operators, Directors & Floor Managers
Cross train, coach and develop Automated Production Control Operators and Directors
Weekly scheduling of staff and validating weekly hours/time off within time keeping system
Create, document and implement SOP’s and workflows
Implement Disaster Recovery procedures and training that cover the Production Control
Room and Studio systems
Track newscast discrepancies, present results and provide solutions
Implement necessary equipment and software training for staff
Assist DOT on capital projects
Work closely with the WCAU/WWSI Engineering staff to ensure control room and studio equipment is properly maintained and repaired
Work closely with News Managers to ensure editorial direction translates to successful on air production
In conjunction with News & Creative Services Leadership, manage set look, design and implementations
Remote production management as necessary. Conduct sight surveys, vendor hiring, assemble crew, and fill technical requirements
Work with finance team on budgeting launches, special projects and remotes including controlling/negotiating/tracking actual expenditures on these events
Work independently to develop and manage projects, aggressively meet timelines and related budgets
Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications
BA/BS degree; concentration in Communications, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or Engineering or equivalent work experience
Minimum 7 years progressively responsible news production experience
Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role in a live broadcast environment
Project Management background

Desired Qualifications

Strong working knowledge of the following equipment: Switchers (Ross, Grass Valley), Newsroom systems (Dalet, iNEWS, ENPS, etc.), Automation systems (Ross OverDrive, Grass Valley Ignite, Sony ELC), File based server playback (Harmonic Omneon, Ross Video BlackStorm, etc.), NLE system (Adobe Premiere, Avid NewsCutter, etc.), Character generator systems (Ross Video Expression, etc.) & Prompters.

• Bilingual (Spanish and English) a plus
• Strong leadership and managing skills
• Exceptional communication skills that encourage, mentor and influence employees (oral and written)
• Ability to effectively motivate and coach team members
• Ability to recognize and meet the varying demands and requirements of every news and show production
• Open to new and creative ways of show production by being an innovative thinker
• Knowledge of the Philadelphia market/viewing areas to improve show needs and production
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, quickly shifting priorities among multiple projects as needed to execute production demands efficiently
• Working experience in a television newsroom and on-air production arena within a large media company
• Excellent computer skills and scheduling application software knowledge preferred.
