Description of Work
This position is located in the Psychology Services Department. The Department operates from a strong theoretical base in Applied Behavior Analysis. Responsibilities include completing basic and specialized diagnostic assessments of cognitive and adaptive skills, as well as functional assessments of severe behavior disorders, developing comprehensive training and treatment programs, providing staff training, providing supervision of behavior specialists and masters level psychologists, assisting and consulting with other staff in conducting systematic analysis of intervention efforts, and participating in interdisciplinary process. The psychologist's caseload will primarily include people on the autism spectrum. The psychologist will also be assigned, as needed, to assist in specialized needs assessment clinics.

Scheduled work hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday.
Salary Grade: GN17

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

- Advanced, demonstrated knowledge and application of psychological principles, theories, methods and procedures especially in the area of intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities with evidence of experience with people on the autism spectrum.
- Advanced experience in functional analysis and intervention with individuals who have severe behavior disorders.
- Experience in teaching and maintaining adaptive skills.
- Advanced experience and knowledge in application and interpretation of psychological testing, including experience in the assessment of autism.
- Demonstrated effective staff training and management strategies and ability to relate appropriately to clients and staff members.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90270) and two years of professional psychological experience, one of which must be postdoctoral. Refer to the law for specifics regarding experience requirements.
